35mm - film, series.
2018.
These photographs were captured the day after my grandmother's passing in an attempt to document absence and the relationship betweeen space and memory centered around her former apartment of fifty-six years.
I reconcile our family loss, by documenting portraits in the spaces in the spaces where my grandmother “passed through” primarily her home, church and neighborhood, creating a sense of ‘atonement” with her death.
In these images, I also consider my body as a site of passage, where my grandmother’s influence flowed fluidly.
