“narr'ceh'sus”
digital chromogenic print (series)
2018.

This series of images highlight the  effects of  family,  on one’s identity.  I decided to pictorially examine the notion of black familial-hood  and the tension between accepting the histories of your lineage versus constructing an identity, comprised of self belief and lived experience.

I contemplate on the concept of  family as a culmination of  ‘given’ fragmented narrartives - whose  presence alongside the central figure represent the decisive moment in which one must  confront their  values of kinship for a plight of independence or collective integrity.
